Over this past weekend, Pete Tong hosted a six-hour summer festival special on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix. Alongside four live recorded sets from the likes of Hot Creations’ honcho Lee Foss, Patrick Topping back-to-back Richy Ahmed, Jackmaster and Peggy Gou, the long-running UK show headed out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the stark Nevada desert to catch John Digweed spinning at Insomniac’s 21st annual EDC Las Vegas.
Across his extended 90-minute set, the Bedrock label boss delivered a clinical techno masterclass, featuring leading artists like Maceo Plex, Tale of Us, Hot Since 82, Scuba, Lee Van Dowski, and more. Witnessing this live in the mix at the Factory 93–hosted stage was truly epic for those in attendance.
“As festivals go, EDC is up there as one of the biggest and the best,” Digweed said. “The sound, the lighting, the production, the visuals—it’s all incredible. The DJ lineup is out of this world. Even though it was 110 degrees, the crowd was still going mad. I was part of the Paradise Stage at neonGARDEN, and the production in there was incredible. I really got straight into it in this set. Thanks to the Essential Mix for having me on again, and I hope you enjoy this mix.”
