Deorro is an L.A.-based DJ/producer who burst onto the scene a few years ago and has been party-rocking ever since, as well as creating the occasional left-field artist album. Even though he had to take some time off DJing earlier in his career to focus on the music-making side of things, Deorro has returned to DJing with a vengeance in the past few years.
He is a true peak-time dancer’s DJ and the perfect maestro to send you off flying. The Latino beatsmith played his first EDC Las Vegas in 2014 and has since also rocked the massive crowds at Mexico’s EDC earlier this year. He’s now an official EDC vet.
Here’s Deorro’s special EDC memory, as he recounts the very first time he stepped onto the Speedway to treat his PandaFam following to a bouncy, high-octane set:
I remember the first year I played, I played one of the first slots. I remember people running in to catch my set. Seeing people run to me was a trip. I was not expecting that kind of support. It definitely made it very memorable.
It was my first EDC, and it was my dream to play there… it was so much more than I’d expected.
Playing at EDC always feels like I’m playing to a home crowd. Even though you get people from all over the world, it still feels like I’m playing in my own backyard.
