You wouldn’t expect the EDM scene to be alive and well in Alaska, but Nicole and Greg are here to prove you wrong.

The happy couple first found each other in the small ski town of Girdwood, Alaska, where they decided to take a walk together. Feeling excited and full of energy, Nicole proceeded to take her phone out to play a little dance music, never dreaming of the impact this one small gesture would have on her life.

“Girdwood only plays bluegrass and jam bands on the weekends at the local bar,” she explains. “When I saw how surprised and happy he was to hear that I was playing dancing music, I knew we were destined to be together!”

They would set up miniature raves at the homes of friends, flicking the lights on and off “for that true rave effect” and dance their hearts out, proving that the couple that dances together stays together.

A small taste of dance was all the duo needed before they decided to take matters into their own hands, creating their very own EDM universe at home. They would set up miniature raves at the homes of friends, flicking the lights on and off “for that true rave effect,” and dance their hearts out, proving that the couple that dances together stays together.

Give a love born from a shared desire to dance at a festival, and it’ll want to visit a few more. After dating for a while, Nicole and Greg decided to head down to Paradiso for their first festival, the point at which Nicole describes “when everything changed and EDM became life!”

“We became addicted. Anytime we could, and even when we couldn’t, we were traveling out of state to go to shows and festivals.”

The two toured the festival circuit for the next four and a half years—spending their time making new friends, visiting new places, and of course, bonding over a love of dance—before Greg proposed at Nocturnal 2016. Their mutual friends back home even decided to join the fun, bringing in the whole squad to witness Nicole’s special night.

And how did the proposal go down, you ask? Greg got down on one knee during Above & Beyond—one of his favorite groups—and popped the question. The rave fam cheered for joy, hooting and hollering at the top of their lungs.

The next step was the only logical one they could think of, a progression of their journey together so far: to get married at EDC. But a few of their friends and family couldn’t join, so Nicole and Greg decided to start celebrating their commitment to each other with a bachelor/bachelorette party at Middlelands 2017.

Fast forward a few weeks later, and the whole crew—Nicole, Greg, their parents, aunts, uncles, and even a few special guests joined them in Vegas for the wedding.

“Almost ALL of our friends from other festivals—throughout the five years we had been together—were there, including one of our friends who’s an ordained minister,” remembers Nicole. “He had told us four years earlier that he was going to marry us, and he did.”

The wedding itself was chaotic, beautiful, and exciting, with the entire dolled-up crew running up to the raceway to get to the chapel as the audience cheered them on. The ceremony—at first, without the certificate—was performed by Nicole’s friend, as promised. After the paperwork arrived, another ceremony was performed by the well-known Elvis impersonator.

“After that, I danced my ass off until sunrise,” says Nicole proudly.

Her smile lit up the room as Greg stared into her eyes, and if you watched the two dance together, you would know why. You’d see love, plain and simple—a love that’s dying to find its way onto the dancefloor.
